Procedure

The chosen cheek enhancement product is injected under the surface of the skin in small amounts with a very fine needle, giving natural volume and structure to the treated area. This smoothes away the appearance of lines and wrinkles, and enhances facial shape.

The treatment is quick, usually taking about 30 minutes. You may experience mild discomfort, which can be alleviated using a local anaesthetic cream. Cheek enhancement treatment with Restylane, Perlane or Juvéderm does not affect facial expression and the benefits can normally be seen instantly.

• Will I need a skin test first?

  No, because our dermal fillers do not contain any animal-derived ingredients you will not require a skin test first.

• What do dermal fillers contain and what do they look like?

  The products contain hyaluronic acid and water with the appearance of crystal clear gels.

• How safe is hyaluronic acid?

  Hyaluronic acid is safe as it is made from non-animal products and is totally natural. It has been used for more than seven years without any serious long-term side effects.

• How long does the treatment take?

  Cheek enhancement takes about 30 minutes.

• Does cheek enhancement hurt?

  Both Juvederm and Restylane products have a built-in anaesthetic making the treatment virtually pain free.

• Will there be any after-effects?

  You may experience slight redness, swelling or bruising following cheek enhancement, although this usually subsides within a couple of days, and can be covered easily with makeup.

• Is there any risk of allergic reactions?

  The risk of allergic reaction is minimised because Restylane and Juvéderm® mimic the body's own hyaluronic acid.

• What can and can't I do after the treatment?

  You can carry on with your normal daily activities as any redness can be covered with make-up. It is advisable, however, not to expose the treated area to strong sunlight for two to three days post treatment and to leave the area alone to settle for 48 hours.

• Is cheek enhancement suitable for everyone?

  There is no upper or lower age limit (excluding children) for cheek enhancement, but if you have very thin skin you will need different treatment than someone with thicker skin. Our experienced nurses will carefully assess your skin before selecting the correct product for you.

• How long do the results last?

  You will probably need a top-up cheek enhancement treatment after 6-12 months.

• Can cheek enhancement dermal fillers be used with Botox?

  Yes, sometimes the best effect is achieved when they are used together.
