Creating fuller lips and accentuating the smile to give a natural look with the latest lip enhancement and lip filler treatments.
As thinning lips become a common reality as we get older, the safe and effective anti ageing treatment of lip enhancement has become increasingly popular. The best way to give lips a fuller, plumper appearance – and hence a more attractive, youthful appearance – is to restore lost volume and moisture with lip fillers that contain the body’s own natural material, hyaluronic acid. Lip fillers are the most common form of treatment to subtly smooth fine lines around the mouth.
There are many different lip fillers options available, with each method creating slightly different results and benefits. Sheridan France offers a choice of different lip fillers in her London clinics, including Restylane® Lipp and Juvéderm® Ultra.
Our experienced practitioner is skilled in knowing not only which of these lip fillers to choose for each individual but also what will look the most natural. Your treatment will therefore be designed specifically to meet your lip enhancement needs.
After a full consultation, topical unaesthetic is generally applied to the lip to numb the area. Because the lips are a highly sensitive part of the body, anesthesia is usually recommended before lip enhancement. Once the area is numb, several small injections of lip filler are administered using a very fine needle. All the products we use contain the local anaesthetic lidocaine to numb the lips, so the treatment is virtually pain free and only takes 20-40 minutes.
It is normal to experience some mild swelling, and on rare occasions some soreness or mild bruising, following the treatment, but this usually resolves itself after a day or two. It can be reduced by applying a cold compress on the lips for ten minutes immediately after the treatment.
Over time the product will gradually dissolve away naturally, leaving your lips the same as before the treatment. Results will last increasingly longer the more treatments you have.
Who is lip enhancement suitable for?
It is ideal for people who want fuller lips or who have developed lines around the top and bottom of the mouth.
Is the procedure safe?
Yes, it is safe and gives natural-looking results.
Do lip fillers hurt?
All the lip enhancement products we use include the local anesthetic lidocaine for a more comfortable treatment experience, making it practically pain free.
Is any pre-treatment care necessary?
No pre-treatment care is needed but you may choose to take arnica tablets 7 days beforehand in order to reduce any bruising. It is also advisable to avoid taking any fish oil supplements around the time of your treatment.
What are the after-effects of lip fillers?
Your lips will be slightly swollen afterwards and there may be bruising on or around the lips. This will mainly settle over the next 12 hours.
How soon can I return to work?
Depending on the type of lip fillers you have, you should be able to return to work the following day.
Is there any post-treatment advice?
The application of a cold compress is recommended for the first day or so. For the first six hours after the treatment you should avoid touching the treated area, then the area can be gently washed with soap and water, and you can apply light make-up.
How soon will I see the results?
Lip filling treatment results are instant.
How long will the results last?
The results last between four and six months, and sometimes longer.
Can I have repeat treatments?
Repeat treatments can be carried out without any long-term effect to the lips.
What happens if I don’t have any more lip enhancement?
Your lips will gradually return to normal as the product dissolves away over time.
