Chemical Peels

replenish & refresh the skin

Chemical peels replenish & refresh the skin surface, which can help to soften the appearance of scarring, pigmentation & sun damage. This treatment is often recommended to stimulate the development of collagen, helping you to benefit from fresher, more youthful looking skin.

Why anti-wrinkle injections?

Chemical Peels, also known as ‘Derma Peels’ can be used to help improve both the appearance and health of your complexion.

Whether you want to treat a specific area or the entirety your face, Chemical Peels can help to;

  • Decrease lines and wrinkles
  • Increase skin tone and smoothness
  • Remove sun or age spots and uneven
  • pigmentation
  • Decrease pore size and regulate oily skin
  • Reduce acne and acne scars.

Skin peels are an accelerated form of exfoliation induced by chemical products. This highly effective method of skin rejuvenation works by removing the top layers of old, dead skin to reveal the fresh, younger, healthy cells underneath.

There are many different types of skin peels available and they vary in strength. These range from superficial peels that will allow you to return to normal daily activities immediately to deeper skin peels that require a few days off work.

Sheridan France offers a range of peeling products at her clinic from the world-leading Obagi® brand. The specific peel that a patient needs will be decided after a full skin consultation, tailored both to their individual requirements and the condition of their skin.

Obagi® Peels

There are two types of peels in the Obagi® range and these differ in strength. The Obagi blue radiance is the lighter of the two and requires no preparation. It is recommended that you have a course of 3 peels, three weeks apart. The benefit of this peel is that it gives a fresh radiance to the skin with no recovery down time, where the patient can put their makeup on and return to normal activity immediately after the peel.

The deeper standard Obagi® Blue peel® however uses trichloroacetic acid (tca) as the active ingredient mixed with Obagi’s patented blue base. This is a stronger one-off peel with a down time of five to seven days. Skin needs to be prepared for at least six weeks prior to treatment, and it is an excellent treatment for sun damaged, ageing or pigmented skin.

The Chemical Peeling Process

All of our skin peels are physically performed at our clinic. The process beings with a thorough cleanse of the skin before the practitioner carefully applies the chemical solution.  The whole procedure typically lasts 30-45 minutes, and before you go home you will be given post-procedure instructions.

For gentler peels (for example the Obagi®  Blue Peel Radiance) you may experience mild redness and occasional swelling, but very little visible peeling or flaking.

After a stronger Obagi® standard blue peel your skin may be a little red and slightly swollen during the first 24 hours. Though your skin may be dry and feel tight there should not be any pain. The skin will peel between three to five days after the procedure and must be left to come off at its own pace. Make-up may be applied over the new, pink skin as soon as it has healed.
